Still growing after 30 years
An engineering company is going from strength to strength as it celebrates 30 years in business.
Renown Engineering was set up in 1986 by Messrs Rennie and Brown, making armoured steel products for vehicles used by the defence industry.
When the founders retired in 2005, it marked a new period of growth for the business as it expanded into a 37,000sq ft facility in Cramlington.
Now the Renown Group boasts seven trading divisions over three sites, with more than 130 staff and an annual turnover of £12m.
Managing director John Hamilton said: “Not only has increasing the company’s capabilities, skills, accreditations and facilities improved the overall services we’re able to offer to our customers, but it allows the group to adapt to the ever-changing market and withstand economic and industry changes.
“For example, after the recent plunge in oil and gas we have been able to focus our efforts on the increasing defence and security market.”
To mark its anniversary the group is celebrating some of its longest-serving workers, some of whom have clocked up 27 years’ service.
It will also continue to invest in apprenticeship training and graduate schemes.
The business continues to see growth, with an increase in exports to countries in Western Europe. North America and the Middle East.
