TALENTED youngsters rounded off the school year by being recognised for their achievements at an awards ceremony.

Awards for academic excellence in various subjects were presented to each year group at the Blyth School Community College, while students with 100 per cent attendance were praised.

A DVD featuring Year 7 pupils gave the audience an opportunity to listen to students talking about lessons, how much they enjoyed their work and the various clubs they had joined, including trampoline, music and chess.

The Year 11 Keel Row Award was presented to Holly Sutherland, who not only worked hard on her academic studies but also took an active part in the wider school community.

The evening included a presentation by newly elected head boy Joe Young about his ‘journey through school’ and how excited he is to be representing the school next year.

Following the event staff, students and their families enjoyed refreshments in the open learning centre.
