Students in Ashington celebrate GCSE results success

Just less than 100 per cent of pupils at an Ashington school have left with five A* to C GCSE grades.

A total of 99.4 per cent of students at The Northumberland Church of England Academy achieved the five A* to C grades, and pupils did particularly well in Maths, continuing their upward trend from 55.6% last year to 61 per cent this year.

There were also successes in triple science, with 94 per cent of learners in Biology and Chemistry achieving a C grade or above, and 100 per cent in physics.

Ashley Davy achieved nine A*s and one A, Chloe Hope gained three A*s, five As and one B, Shaun Appleton earned two A* and seven As, Megan Cessford achieved three As five Bs and a distinction in Art BTEC, and Rebecca Sanderson gained four A*s, four As, one B and a distinction in ICT.
