A charity which transports blood around the region has been chosen to benefit from the Asda Foundation.
Throughout September to November 2014, shoppers at Asda Cramlington voted for Northumbria Blood Bikes and chose it as the successful organisation to receive a £200 donation from the Asda Foundation.
Blood Bikes is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers who transport blood and other medical supplies to local hospitals and medical centres, out-of-hours 7pm to 7am every day of the year, using motorbikes and saving the NHS transport costs of ambulances and taxis.
Cramlington-based woman’s charity, Healthwise Group, nominated Northumbria Blood Bikes.
Healthwise meets weekly at 10am to noon on Thursday mornings at Concordia Leisure Centre, Cramlington.
