As part of National Breastfeeding Celebration Week, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s infant feeding team organised an event for breastfeeding women and breastfeeding peer support volunteers in Northumberland.

More than 120 mothers, babies and volunteers attended the event at VUE Cinema, which included a special screening of the Jungle Book.

Mothers attending the event praised the ‘fantastic’ support and reassurance they receive from the team and said they benefit from meeting other breastfeeding mothers and forming friendships.

The trust has around 100 women who volunteer to support other breastfeeding women, giving one-to-one support, running groups, providing a telephone helpline as well as being out and about in their local communities.
