A fundraiser who raised £100 in her first charity event has now raised 100 times as much in three years.
Susan MacKellar, from Stakeford, has brought in more than £10,000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer after she started fundraising with a coffee morning in her home which raisied £102.
“It was so rewarding I wanted to do more and I contacted Breakthrough asking what I could do,” she said.
“They suggested I became a £1,000 challenger and I have never looked back.
“I never dreamt it would be possible to raise £1,000 nevermind £10,000.
“I have a fantastic support network of friends and family who come to my events, donate gifts and help me sell raffle tickets.
“There are also some fantastic local businesses who have also donated raffle prizes to my events.
“Without all these people helping me I could not host such successful events.”
Susan’s next event is at the Market Place Club in Bedlington on Saturday, October 18.
“It will be my third annual event for Breast Cancer Awareness month,” she added.
“Last year I was performing with my Burlesque class, this year I can sit back and enjoy the ‘Break-Through The Decades’ event.
“I have a fantastic local singer Joshua James performing and there will also be a buffet, raffle and disco.”
