TALKING NEWSPAPER: Group has had to close

It is with great regret and sadness that I have to report that the Blyth and District Talking Newspaper closed on December 31, 2018.

This decision has not been taken lightly, but following a series of setbacks concerning members of the committee, the remaining committee members no longer feel able to carry on and have reluctantly taken this step.

The equipment has been sold, scrapped or donated to other organisations, and in accordance with our constitution, all money in the bank account has been distributed to other Talking Newspaper groups in the Northumberland area.

The Charity Commission will be informed of this decision.

I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the past success of the Blyth and District Talking Newspaper, especially the volunteer readers who gave so much of their time.

Thank you particularly to ‘Uncle Eric’ Dickson, who gave more than anyone to ensure that the visually impaired community of south east Northumberland was included in what was happening in the region.
