Members got together for a bake-in one evening at the Crossroads Coffee Shop and on the day, usual business was suspended and all takings from the coffee morning and cake stall – £679.01 was raised – were donated to the charity.

Christine Rogers, one of the Coffee Shop committee, said: “It was a very encouraging morning. We had help from our staff and members of the community and lots of our regular customers supported the effort in aid of such a worthwhile cause.”

The committee is currently organising a special meal on November 10 to raise funds for the RNLI. For more information about this event, call the shop on 01670 814146.
