Residents and staff at a care home have been raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Craig Healthcare’s Cramlington House in Cramlington took part in the Alzheimer’s Society’s Cupcake day recently, raising £230 by selling cupcakes that had been baked by residents’ family members, members of the local community and staff.
Loraine Brunton, general manager at Craig Healthcare, said: “The home had a really successful Cupcake Day, raising money that will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society and used to provide emotional support to the relatives of those diagnosed with dementia or help fund care support for those living with the condition.
“Everyone got really involved, especially in the ‘guess the cupcake flavour’, which went down a treat.”
The Alzheimer’s Society’s Cupcake Day is in its third year and to date has raised £1.4m since 2016, of which all proceeds are used to help the fight against dementia and support those living with the condition.
