Football teams from Ashington CFC Juniors, Bedlington Town, Berwick Rangers, Burradon Juniors, Cramlington United, Ellington Juniors, Heaton Hawks, Wallsend Community and Westmoor Juniors were invited to join Dave’s family and friends to help celebrate his life.

David White died suddenly from a heart attack in September 2014, and his parents made a vow to do something that David’s two football sons could remember him by.

The event once again took place at Hirst Welfare Centre in Ashington while also raising funds for Ashington Colliers U11s’ chosen charity, Children with Cancer.

Dave’s dad Maurice, said: “Ten junior football teams came together for a brilliantly planned and executed Dave White Memorial event run by Ashington Colliers under 11s manager Stephen Spicer.

“The players themselves deserve a special mention for their efforts, with a big well done going to Ellington Juniors and Ashington CFC, the Memorial Cup and Memorial Plate winners respectively.

“A huge thank you is reserved for all those who turned up to watch, who went very, very deep into their pockets to contribute £425 for Children with Cancer.

“This was a fitting tribute and we’re looking forward to another successful day next year.”
