Teenager is robbed of his mobile phone

A teenager had his mobile phone stolen by two men in Ashington.

The 15-year-old had been making his way home at 11.15pm on Sunday, November 17, when he was approached by two men near the area of St Clement’s Court and the nearby shops in North Seaton.

After demanding his mobile phone, the teenager handed over his Blackberry phone and some earphones and the two men made off.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the robbery and bailed pending further enquiries.

Police believe the robbery may be linked to a similar offence which was witnessed in the Woodhorn area of Ashington at about 9.15pm on the same night.

However, the victim of that offence, believed to be a male, has not reported it to police and has not been identified and police are urging him to come forward.

Any witnesses to either offence or anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, for the attention of Bedlington CID, quoting reference 1296 17/11/13, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
