Blyth’s inshore lifeboat was called out just before 8.45pm today (Monday) after the Humber Coastguard received reports of the pair in trouble on the river Blyth.

One of the boats had sank while the other had begun taking on water.

The lifeboat was quickly on scene and picked up the two teenagers.

They were taken back to the old ferry landing at Wimbourne Quay where they were met by Blyth Coastguard Rescue Team.

Neither casualty required medical assistance.
