A county support group has received a cash boost from a local supermarket.
Blyth Stroke Support Group has been awarded a lottery award of £4,000, and £50 from Asda Blyth as part of their green token scheme.
Group secretary Jim Wyness said: “The cash will help us plan outing and events for our members and advertise our presence in the local community hopefully increasing our membership,
“We believe there is life after stroke and we concentrate on the quality of that life and basic fun and friendship.
“We also inform and help the community at large become more aware of the risk factor leading to stroke.”
The group, which covers south east Northumberland, offers help, support and information for stroke survivors, their families and carers, with peeer support, activites and practical advice.
The group meets on the fourth Monday of every month at The Briardale Community Centre in Blyth, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
