A businessman from the county is collecting people’s old running trainers to give to homeless people.
Tony Holland, who owns the Ultra Runner shop in Cramlington, is urging people to give their old running shoes to the homeless this Christmas.
And since he launched the appeal to collect 1,000 pairs of trainers by Christmas Day, donations have been flooding in and he is already up to 180 pairs of shoes.
“Runners don’t tend to hang on to their shoes for very long and they will be better than the shoes that homeless people have,” he said.
The trainers will be distributed by Grainger Street Friends and can be dropped off at Ultra Runner, Unit 10, Hubway, Cramlington.
