Town councils going to polls

BY-elections are being held in three town council wards to coincide with next month’s referendum on the voting system.

Ashington Town Council has two seats up for grabs.

Labour’s Vicky Brown and Liberal Democrat Hayden Owen Parker are standing for the College ward.

In the town’s Bothal North ward, Labour’s Lynne Grimshaw will be up against Lib Dem Baber Ali Sikander.

At Blyth Town Council, Liberal Democrat Liz Vuyk and Labour candidate Sam Walker are set to battle it out at the polls for the vacant Newsham ward seat.

The elections will be held on Thursday, May 5.
