Trio receive thanks for long service
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed that three of its longest-serving non-executive directors will not seek re-election when their current terms come to an end in December.
At its annual general meeting, the organisation thanked David Thompson, Ian Swithenbank and Ian McMinn for their collective service, totalling 47 years.
Coun Swithenbank joined Northumbria Healthcare as a non-executive director in 1999 and previously held roles as the leader and chairman of Northumberland County Council. In 1997, he was awarded a CBE for service to Northumberland.
The Cramlington East ward councillor is currently portfolio holder for streetcare and environment at the county authority.
Mr McMinn has been a non-executive director since 1998 and Mr Thompson took on the role in 2004.
The three men have helped to guide the foundation trust’s board to become recognised as one of the best in England and played a part in its recent outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission.
