Two more arrested after dog attack in play park
Two more people have been arrested after a dog attacked children in a play area.
Police have arrested a 34-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control.
A 37-year-old woman who was arrested yesterday (Thursday) has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Up to 11 children were left with injuries after a dog – a tan coloured Staffordshire bull terrier – got into a play park in Burns Avenue, Blyth, at 6.30pm on Wednesday.
Three of the children were kept in hospital overnight for treatment.
Superintendent Mick Paterson, from Northern Area Command, said: “Thankfully these incidents are extremely rare but we recognise that this has been a traumatic incident for those involved, their families and for the wider community.
“The dog remains in a secured kennels at this time. Blyth’s local neighbourhood officers continue to speak to those involved and reassure local residents who have any concerns.”
