SECOND-team cricket round-up.

With three players from last week missing due to work and other commitents, the home side are still waiting to field their strongest team as four second teamers retained their places.

Tillside batted first and made a solid start through the Atkinson brothers opening up with a half century partnership in the 18th over.

The partnership was broken finally when an excellent throw from Andy Ebdale ran out L Atkinson for a score of 52.

Brother R Atkinson was bowled by Andy Ebdale for 25 before young Harry Clark broke another 50 pairing when he took his first senior wicket, Caddick stumped by Roberts for 31.

Sim then lofted an Andy Ebdale ball to deep mid-off and brother Dave Ebdale took the catch.

Andy Ebdale bowled Hill for six, but that was Blyth’s last wicket as Bickerton (90 not out) and McGregor (9 not out) took Tillside’s score to 235-5.

Blyth bowling figures were D Ebdale 0-28, A Kemp 0-37, C Smith 0-32, A Ebdale 3-49, C Walker 0-32 and H Clark 1-38.

In reply, openers Andy Clark and Glass put on 22 before the latter was bowled.

Andy Ebdale went cheaply and Clark was out for 26.

Walker and Chris Smith both failed to trouble the scorer and Blyth were 41-5.

Dave Ebdale and Roberts doubled the score with a partnership of 48. However, both departed with the score on 89. Roberts for 22 and Dave Ebdale for 29.

Kemp and Blackett moved the score onto 112 when Blackett went for 11.

Thirteen-year-old Alfie Clark came in next, but with the score on 128, he saw Kemp go for 21.

This brought Harry Clark in to join his younger brother and they held firm and put on 20 runs for the final wicket, just failing to reach a third batting point.

Alfie Clark remained 12 not out and Harry Clark was unbeaten on nine.

Blyth 4 points; Tillside 29 points.

On Saturday, Blyth first XI are at Alnwick with a 1.30pm start while the seconds entertain Cramlington with a 1pm start.
