Village cafe in the running for award

A cafe that provides a community facility, outstanding food and great customer service has been nominated for a WOW247 Award.

The Running Fox at Felton has been put forward for the Coolest Cafe category by a customers.

Organised by Johnston Press North East, publishers of the Berwick Advertiser, Northumberland Gazette, Morpeth Herald and News Post Leader, the awards highlight the places and people that make Northumberland a wonderful place in which to live, work and visit.

The Running Fox’s nominee said: “The Fox provides stunningly good handmade food in generous portions, served by friendly, efficient and helpful staff in a relaxed and lively environment. It has provided a new meeting place for village groups, from the WI walking group who meet there on wet days, to groups of young mums, business networkers and craft groups. The Running Fox has also put the village on the map and has provided an extra incentive for visitors to support other local businesses.”

The nomination deadline has been extended until Saturday, February 27. The categories are:

Fine Dining – For exquisite cooking.

Coolest Café – Combining excellent food and drink with a great ambience.

Recreation Facility/Children’s Venue of the Year – Covering a broad range of venues, such as sports halls, cinemas and facilities for children.

Best Bar – For bars with thought and creativity.

Tourist Attraction of the Year – For good quality, well maintained attractions, with facilities for disabled people, catering and parking.

Park/Community Area of the Year - For a family friendly area with a range of facilities.

Traditional Northumberland Pub – Whether a cosy country inn or a pub with a range of ales.

Hotel of the Year – For excellence in guest service, hospitality and quality.

B&B of the Year – This should be comfortable, clean and make you feel at home.

Casual Dining – For places that offer consistently good dishes.

Best Newcomer – Somewhere that’s launched in the past two years and is establishing its reputation.

Event of the Year – For a high quality, memorable and value-for-money experience.

Self Catering – Quality accommodation is critical.

Best Wedding Venue – For the venue that goes the extra mile for your big day.

Winners will be announced at an awards night at Newton Hall, on March 17.
