Volunteers are praised for support work

Volunteers who help people struggling with their finances get back on their feet, have been praised for the work they are doing.

As part of Volunteers Week – which runs from June 1 to 7 – helpers at DAWN Citizen Advice Bureau in Morpeth have been recognised for their support and help.

DAWN CAB offers free, impartial advice, and addresses key issues such as benefit sanctions and employment problems to people in need of support.

Operations manager Hayley Cherry said: “We want a say a huge thank you to our dedicated team of volunteers, they are the beating heart of the organisation.

“Volunteers not only give a lot but get a lot back from the work they do with us. It’s a great way to make friends, build on your work experience and learn new skills.

“Our volunteers are vital to the way we deliver our service, we really could not help all the local people we do without them.

“All our 26 volunteers work tirelessly to support members of the public on everything from debt to benefits.”
