Vote now to help find a local hero
In the words of Mark Knopfler's Local Hero, which has become the theme tune of Newcastle United at the club's home games, that's exactly what we are looking for in Wansbeck right now.
We are seeking people we can acknowledge and applaud for their outstanding community or charitable work in our Wansbeck constituency so that they get the recognition they merit.
And I, along with my team, know there are plenty of deserving nominees in our area.
People who are local legends and helpful heroes or true charity champions because of the way they willingly give up their spare time to do such wonderful work on behalf of others and our community are some examples.
What we are blessed with in this country is a huge network of people prepared to act on behalf of others, and that is a situation which is splendidly reflected here in Wansbeck.
Of course, the vast majority of these people don’t seek recognition in one way or another for the work they do, but simply get on with what they do, very often day-in and day-out throughout the whole year.
But we think it is right and proper that our ‘local heroes’ deserve to be recognised for the work they do, which is why we are running our 2018 Wansbeck Constituency competition.
Our only criteria is that the people who have been nominated either live or volunteer in our Wansbeck constituency.
Already we have our nominations, who have this week been named on our facebook page.
Voting to choose our ‘Local Hero’ has now opened and we thank those who have nominated someone as their hero.
What we now are asking people to do is to vote for the nominee of your choice. Remember, if you don’t vote they can’t win.
