Wages are in turn taxed

Blyth Valley MP Ronnie Campbell made the ludicrous assertion that taxpayers are subsidising employers (News Post Leader, Window on Westminster, February 26).

He must not realise that most of the taxes from which we all benefit come from employers who pay Value Added Tax, National insurance contributions, Corporation Tax etc.

The wages and salaries paid by employers to their employees are in turn taxed through Pay As You Earn.

So to say that the people paying taxes are subsidising the people paying taxes is silly.
