WAR: A child's help for others

I just got a call from my five-year-old great granddaughter, Hollie Buckle, in Ashington.

Friday, 28th October 2016, 6:00 am

“Granddad”, she said. “I’m packing up all my old toys for the children in the war cos they don’t have anything to play with.”

“That really is very nice of you,” I said.

“I’ve put my slippers in as well,” she said.

To which I said: “Your slippers, why?”

“Well you cant play with toys when your feet are cold can you,” she answered.

Brought a lump to my throat, it did.
