War medals pinched in Blyth

Police are appealing for information after war medals were stolen from Blyth.

Between 12 noon and 4pm on Saturday, December 14, thieves stole a bag from a car parked in Beaumont Street.

The bag contained a number of war medals that had belonged to the victim’s late grandfather.

Among the medals were two Boer War medals which are of sentimental value.

The ribbon on the first medal has red, black and orange stripes. The second medal has green, white and orange stripes and they have inscriptions on them (as per the image).

Enquiries are being carried out to locate the stolen medals and officers have been checking jewellers and pawn brokers across the force area.

Anyone with any information into the whereabouts of the medals is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 or by ringing the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
