WASTE: There is a tipping point

editorial image

Well done the writer regarding garden waste, (News Post Leader, February 1).

Why can we not have a discount when we purchase the compost, which had a price increase of ten per cent last year, as we are providing the materials?

Increases of this size are unjustified as inflation is still low.

Furthermore, and excuse the pun, there will be a tipping point where householders will not pay and the waste will be deposited anywhere available.

As for sharing a bin, it is ridiculous as in the height of the season you may be cutting your grass twice a week and the collection is fortnightly, and this is without other garden waste. Maybe many councillors do not have gardens.
