Water and health organisations team up to help Ashington residents
Residents in Ashington are being offered advice on how they can save money, water, time and energy.
Northumbrian Water has teamed up with the NHS to launch a year of activity in the town.
The firm's new ‘Every Customer Counts' campaign offers customers advice on how to save water, prevent blockages, report leaks, take advantage of priority services and get help with their bill.
Staff at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will also help customers to understand the importance of water on their health and wellbeing.
Northumbrian Water's customer director, Claire Sharp, said: "We want to help every single one of our customers and we know that quite often, customers can be surprised to hear about all of the extra care and support services we offer.
"Improving our customers' ability to afford our services is one of the most important ways we can help them.
"There's also an opportunity, if we work together, to have a big impact on how we can protect the environment, whether that's saving water in the home, reporting leaks or only putting toilet paper, pee and poo down the loo."
Claire Riley, director of communications and corporate affairs at Northumbria Healthcare, said: "It's a great campaign which is asking people in Ashington to get involved, looking at water for their health and wellbeing and as a health organisation, we're happy to support that.
“It's also about water efficiency, and making sure what you put down the drains is the right thing."
The campaign also includes Every Drop Counts, Northumbrian Water's largest water saving campaign, where 10,000 residents in Ashington will have the chance to save water and money off their household bills.
