Watersports noise – rubbish

I MUST respond to the article (News Post Leader, August 25) regarding jet-skis at Newbiggin

They can not compare the accident involving Kirsty MacColl as the expert did. If the rider falls off a jet-ski there is a cut off switch on the engine so there is no way it could surge up the beach without the rider on board causing an accident.

My family and myself have been using jet bikes and speedboats for more than 25 years and we have never had one call out from the lifeboats and never had any near misses.

If they had concerns around two years ago I may have agreed because there were lots of irresponsible users in the bay, but this has not been the case for the last few years.

As for somebody saying they are thinking about selling their property because of the noise, that is rubbish.

I live close to the beach and when I am indoors I can not hear any boats or any other motor vessel in the bay.
