A woman who turned to a slimming group after gaining weight during recovery from cancer is now helping others to lose weight.
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, Beverley Swan gained weight following a mastectomy and her first reconstruction, and found it difficult to get out for walks she had previously enjoyed.
Joining Slimming World, she lost 1st 6lb, and with her new found confidence, has now become a consultant for the programme, starting a group in Seaton Sluice.
“Official health messages to manage a healthy weight by following guidelines mean nothing when you’re in a dark place,” she said.
“It’s a big worry for everyone struggling to get their life back after illness. I’m passing on to others the love, support and compassion given to me.”
Beverley’s group meets Tuesdays at 7.15pm in Seaton Sluice First School.
