Woman raped in Blyth pub

A woman was raped in the toilets of a Blyth pub.

The 21-year-old was raped in a toilet cubicle in the Blyth and Tyne pub in Seaforth Street at around 12.30am on Sunday, December 8.

The offender is described as being white, in his late 30s or early 40s and of thin build. He has curly brown shoulder length hair and stubble. He was wearing light blue jeans and a T-shirt.

Police believe the man may have been in the smoking area of the pub before following the victim into the toilets.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone who was in the pub on Saturday night and who might have any information about the incident to contact them as soon as possible on 101 ext 69191 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Northumberland Chief Inspector Peter Reeve said: “I’d urge anyone who thinks they know who this man is to let police know as soon as possible.

“We are carrying out enquiries in the local area and checking CCTV. Bar staff have been spoken to and we are really keen to hear from anyone who was drinking in the pub that night incase they saw something that could help us with the investigation.”
