Women with serious injury after collision in Northumberland

A woman is in hospital with a serious injury after a collision in Northumberland this morning.

At 6.20am on Friday, December 12, a female pedestrian who was crossing the road on the bridge after the roundabout on Station Road in Cramlington was hit by a van travelling west along the road.

The woman, aged 52, fell to the ground and has been taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with a serious injury. The road was closed while the collision was dealt with and because of the icy road conditions, it was reopened at 9am.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 quoting log number 160 11/12/15.
