The old library and police station buildings are owned by Arch, the Northumberland Development Company.

MGL Demolition Ltd has been appointed by Arch to undertake the demolition of the buildings, which are on Forum Way.

The works are scheduled to start on Monday and take 16 weeks to complete.

MGL will work closely with Manor Walks and other partner organisations in the area to ensure that any disruption is kept to a minimum.

The cleared sites will be securely fenced when the work is complete.

Manor Walks draws in more than 10 million visitors a year to its mix of food, fashion and leisure retailers.

Arch and its successor company Advance Northumberland will progress plans to attract even more customers and retailers to the centre and the site clearance will make the site ready for potential future developments.
