A county tea company has struck up a deal to supply its produce throughout supermarkets in the north east.
Corbridge-based Northumberland Tea, supported by its ambassador, World Cup winner Jack Charlton, has this week announced a deal to supply its product in 25 Asda stores.
Jack, from Ashington, appears on the side of every tea box with the light-hearted slogan ‘the best cup since 1966’.
And the sporting legend will be in the Ashington store on July 9 from 11am, and the same time the following day at the Blyth store, to chat to shoppers and sign boxes of the tea.
Bill and Helen Logan, the company’s founders, said: ‘‘Having our tea stocked in Asda is just the icing on the cake, we’ve been working very hard to secure the deal. Working with Asda will be a huge boost to our business.”
Northumberland Tea, which already supples 170 retailers and supermarkets, donates money from every box to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. Both of Helen’s parents died from cancer, and Bill and Helen wanted to give something back after the Foundation’s support during her dad’s treatment.
