Wrong to be on two councils

I HAVE attended the Seaton Valley Parish Council meetings as a member of the public a few times in the past and have noticed something very irritating.

Two councillors who represent the people of Seaton Valley defend the cuts to services being forced onto parish and community councils by Northumberland County Council.

I was shocked to find out recently that both are also members of the county council.

I believe this is totally unacceptable and to me it seems like a conflict of interest.

They go to county council meetings and vote to cut services which parish councils will have to take on otherwise they will be cut completely.

I am going to be writing to the council requesting a change of rules that states county councillors cannot also run for parish and community councillors.
