Six young sailors are back on dry land after a tall ship adventure around Britain.
The students, from Bede Academy in Blyth, returned to their home part after sailing from Southampton aboard Stavros S Niarchos, which is operated by the Tall Ships Youth Trust.
The annual expedition brings together Year 9 students from all schools in the Emmanuel Schools Foundation, with Bede’s group made up of twins Matthew and Rebecca Douglas, Colby Robinson, Jordan Holmes, Kate Arther and Amber Groom.
Rebecca said: “It’s been exciting. I didn’t know many people when we set off but I’ve lots of new friends now from the other schools who I really want to keep in contact with.”
The students, who lived eight to a cabin, had various duties on board including scaling the 40-metre masts, navigating, cleaning the ship, taking turns in the galley and performing night duties starting at 4am.
