A cookery club for young people has returned to a college campus in Northumberland.
The Kids’ Cookery Club at Northumberland College’s Ashington campus started at the weekend, with sessions taking place from 10am to noon on Saturdays.
The club is run by qualified chef Adam Hampson, who is also a member of the teaching team at the college’s school of catering.
“The workshops are all about making food fun, and the college provide all of the ingredients and equipment necessary – and even clears up the mess afterwards,” he said.
Children take home what they have made in the workshops along with a recipe card, which they can use to re-create their handiwork at home.
Sheena Towns, Northumberland College’s head of travel and tourism and school of catering, added: “Adam is a father himself and he is keen to bring the excitement of hands-on cooking and the discovery of new tastes, textures and food awareness to children aged five to ten years.”
The club costs £8 per child per week.
