A group of youngsters have taken on a 170 mile cycle ride to raise money for charity this summer.

Following a 70 mile challenge in 2013 and the Coast to Coast cycle challenge in 2014, the group made it three in a row, completing the gruelling challenge from Edinburgh to Newbiggin in three days.

The seven youngsters ged between 12 and 14 years old, raised more than £500 for various charities.

In addition to the challenge, the group took part in training sessions across south east Northumberland and had an overnight stay at Jean Muir Student Village which gave them a flavour of university life away from home.

The ride was organised by Active Northumberland with support from Seaton Valley Council, Newbiggin Town Council and Northumberland High Sheriff.

Additional support was received from Northumberland Sport via Sportivate, a Sport England lottery funded project which gives young people the chance to discover the sport they love.
