School leavers and young people in Northumberland are being invited to meet advisors to discuss training, apprenticeships, careers, courses and self-employment.
The Help Your Future Grow event is organised by Northumberland County Council’s Employability and Skills and Youth Service teams.
Aimed at 16 to 18-year-olds living in the county, although those up to the age of 24 are also welcome, the event will be held at the Isabella Centre in Blyth on Friday, August 22, from 11am to 3pm.
Those attending will be able to meet qualified and experienced advisors to discuss the options and opportunities available.
Representatives from a range of organisations will be on hand to explain employment and training opportunities on offer and provide help filling in application forms.
Roger Edwardson, interim head of education at the council, said: “Blyth has one of the highest proportions of young people who, after leaving full time education, do not go into to further education and too often become unemployed.”
“This careers event has been a great resource in the past for these young people to speak to different organisations, and learn what provision is available for them, a chance to link young people into training or employment.”
