It’s jingle all the way for a group of Northum berland school children after launching a new fund raising Christmas CD.

The youngsters from Cramlington’s Shanklea Primary School have linked up with the Cramlington office of The Education Network to record and produce their seasonal CD.

Featuring festive favourites Winter Wonderland, 12 Days of Christmas and Jingle Bell Rock, proceeds from the sale of the 50 CDs will help towards funding a ski-ing trip planned for the youngsters in February as well as other school costs.

Dozens of children, aged from 9 – 11 years old, joined the school choir to record the songs at the local Level 3 community-recording studio in Manor Walks Shopping Centre.

The Education Network, which was approached by Shanklea teacher Jade Martin for help, was happy to assist with funding for the recording costs, pressing of the CDs and printing the cover based on a design created by the school.

The CD will be on sale at £5 at the school’s fair on Thursday, December 10. from 5pm to 7pm, where parents and visitors will be entertained with carols as they savour other festive treats.

Helen Brown, head teacher at Shanklea Primary School, said: “We would like to thank The Education Network very much for their kind support and generosity.

“The children are delighted with the record and are really looking forward to singing some of the songs at the fair as well as carol services at local old people’s homes.”
