LIKE many other residents in Seaton Delaval, I am pleased the council is seeing to the long-awaited road repairs in Elsdon Avenue – but why are the road humps not being done away with altogether?
There cannot be any other legally induced hazard to motorists that are detested as much as road humps.
They damage cars and ultimately damage the road as larger, heavier vehicles come down with a bump to cause subsidence and further potholes.
I understand that a well supported petition from Seaton Delaval residents would be successful in removing these monstrosities for ever, so let’s get one started.
Road safety is just as well observed by chicanes which do not cause a problem to anyone – and are no doubt ultimately cheaper.
