On October 5, last year Grant Davey, leader of Northumberland County Council, wrote to your newspaper in reply to several letters from Bedlington residents complaining about the lack of sports and leisure facilities in Bedlington and the vast sums being spent on Ashington, my letter being one of them.
In his reply he stated that the new super sports complex in Ashington was a regional centre of sporting excellence, in other words for all to share.
Now it has come out that Northumberland County Council has £150m put aside for such centres in Blyth, Morpeth and Ponteland.
It seems every region is getting such centres except Bedlington. Why?
Perhaps Coun Davey will be good enough to write in again and explain to the citizens of Bedlington why we are being ignored when it comes to sport and leisure facilities, while hundreds of millions of pounds is being spent on sports and leisure everywhere else.
