RUBBISH: Take some pride in area

editorial image

I have lived in Blyth all my life and am appalled at the state our streets are now in.

Now that the school holidays are over, the streets leading to the Academy are littered with crisp packets, sweet wrappers and every type of drinks’ container.

The vast majority of responsible dog owners come past our house to go onto the football field carrying plastic bags for any mess their dogs might make, but the ignorant minority let their pets defecate in the street and on the field, and leave the faeces as both an eyesore and a health hazard for children and footballers.

To those people I would ask, probably in vain, to show some pride in Blyth and take your rubbish home.
