Film lovers could be set to get closer than ever to some of the most iconic movies in history with a new studio experience planned at Pinewood Studios.

The team at the Buckinghamshire film studio used to film James Bond and Star Wars plans to build the £450 million park next to the site where the movies are filmed.

The plans would see a 350,000 square foot film inspired attraction called Pinewood Studio Experience. The new park could create about 3,500 jobs and would be the studio’s first public attraction.

Home to James Bond, Star Wars and Jurassic Park

Pinewood Studios has been home to some of the biggest productions in film and TV history for more than 80 years.

Sections of blockbusters including the James Bond franchise, the latest Star Wars trilogy and the newest Jurassic Park films were all shot at Pinewood. Going further back in history, classic films like the Carry On series, Oliver Twist, and Alien were also filmed at the complex.

Last year, Disney signed a deal to take over 20 stages plus other facilities at the studio for at least a decade. The deal came two months after Netflix signed a long term lease at Pinewood’s Shepperton Studios.

The new attraction is part of a newly proposed Screen Industries Global Growth Hub, called Screen Hub UK.

The hub, which will be based on a 77 acre site immediately adjacent to the studios, will include an educational training and skills hub, creative industries business growth hub, and a green campus.

Pinewood has estimated that the development would add £230 million to the local economy annually, and £125 million into the tourism industry.

Pinewood Group chairman Paul Golding said, “We have been looking at a visitor experience for some time and feel that now is the right moment to bring it forward. The project will strengthen UK film and bring much needed jobs and spending. We hope our planning application will receive widespread support."

Pinewood is preparing the application and will start consultations with the local community and wider stakeholders later this month.
