Ashington Cricket Club’s third XI face the moment of truth on Sunday when they take on Benwell Hill at Langwell Crescent in the final of the Ian Appleby Cup.

The Colliers recently defeated the Hill which secured them the league championship, and home skipper Josh Robinson is anticipating a fascinating encounter as his side aim to complete a league and cup double.

“It should be a good game,” he said.

“We are hoping to field a strong side and are really looking forward to it.

“We beat Benwell Hill in the last game but one of the programme and which won us the crown, but we will not be taking anything for granted, that’s for sure.”

Ashington have deferred announcing their line-up for the clash which has a 1pm start.
