Bedlington first XI travelled to Lintz hoping to get some play after the second team game against Leadgate fell to the weather early on Saturday morning.

The pitch, although very wet, was just playable and Bedlington brought in Lee Frost, Kevin Harnett and Graham

Watson for Derek Shepherd, Craig Robinson and Chris Taylor.

Given the poor forecast the Go North East Northumberland & Tyneside Senior League Division A2 game was always likely to be a quest for bonus points, and so it proved.

Bedlington lost the toss and there was no surprise when they were asked to bat.

Chris Younger and Darren Leason opened up and Leason fell early for five, bowled after putting on 25 for the first wicket.

Younger fell to a sharp slip catch for an entertaining 20.

Sean McCafferty was bowled off an inside edge for eight and Kev Harnett went lbw for withour acoring before the heavens opened with the score on 50-4 in the 12th over.

Matty Tanney and Dan younger were the not out batsmen.

Bedlington 5 points

Lintz 7 points

On Saturday, May 31, the firsts are home to Cowgate while the seconds travel to same opposition.
