Blyth seconds put up a good performance against second place Berwick seconds at Plessey Road only to lose by eight wickets.
With skipper Colin Blackett out injured for five weeks, those who turned up put in a good performance, even in defeat.
Pick of the Blyth batting came from young Ben Blackett at number ten.
He top scored with 29 not out with Gill 18 and Clark 14 not out as they scored nearly half the runs at the bottom of the order.
Opening batsmen James Stewart scored 22, however, the middle order batsmen got themselves in then threw it away as Blyth totalled 143-8.
Pick of the Berwick bowling was skipper Shearer with 4-37.
Berwick batsmen Wilson and Thompson put their team in a strong position with half centuries.
Blyth bowlers Carrigan and young Jonny Routledge pegged the batsmen back with slow bowling, however, it was too little to late.
Wilson was out caught for 53 but Thompson hit the winning runs with a huge six and remained 61 not out.
Carrigan and Routledge took a wicket each.
