Blyth’s second team came good on Saturday as they overcame Monkseaton seconds by eight runs.
The home side batted first and Monkseaton tried to exploit Blyth’s batting woes, but their efforts came unstuck.
Blyth had good knocks from Kevin Hudspith (54), including six fours and two sixes, and Nobby Gill (35) who with Hudspith held the middle order together with a 63-run partnership.
Andy Rowell (23) chipped in with runs as Blyth totalled 201-9.
Monkseaton’s best bowler was Champkin with 3-15.
Monkseaton’s reply fell short and was mainly held together by a stubborn innings from skipper Kevin Elliott, who batted for 37 overs for his 82, including 11 fours and one six, as they totalled 193-7.
Most of Blyth’s bowlers picked up wickets in a good all round performance.
