Blyth seconds finish with a nine-wicket win against Kirkley

Blyth seconds finished their season with a nine-wicket win over Kirkley.

Kirkley, batting first, struggled to get Blyth’s opening attack away for runs as Thompson and Stewart bowled a tight line.

Wickets fell at regular intervals as the overs were ticking over quicker than the runs scored.

It took a defiant knock from skipper Yeoman with 38 to push the score along, but once he was out the shutters were put up.

Kirkley’s innings at 40 overs was 86.

Blyth’s opening batsmen Stewart and Carrigan put on 43 for the first wicket.

Carrigan went for 30 and Leason came in to join Stewart and this pair saw Blyth safely past the winning line with the first ball of the 16th over.

Stewart was 22 not out and Leason 24 not out.
