Blyth second team’s bowlers’ hard work brought no reward as a batting display saw them beaten by Blue Flames seconds.
James Stewart and Nobby Gill bowled Blyth into a good position by dismissing the league leaders for 71.
Andrew Horner with 18 and Matthew Harrison with 16 were their main run scorers.
Stewart took 3-20 from ten overs and Gill 3-14 from four.
Blyth’s reply started well, however, two poor run outs put the following batsmen under pressure.
Sadly, only stalwart Gill stood firm and nearly saw the home side home, but he departed with 11 runs needed after scoring 35.
It took a good bowling performance from Flames skipper Horner, who is far too good for this division, to see his side home. He took 4-5 from ten overs.
