Another defeat for Blyth’s second string

Blyth seconds went down fighting in dim light and steady rain at Bomarsund on Saturday.

The home side batted first and opener Patterson held the innings together with 60 including 11 fours.

Bell added 42 including seven fours and one six. Then Robertson and More added 40 before the latter went for a risky run and Robertson was out for 35 including five fours.

More ended up 25 not out in a total of 195-6.

Pick of Blyth’s bowling was Thompson with 1-24 from ten overs. Gill took 2-44 and Roberts finished with 1-39.

Blyth’s batting has been their downfall for much of the season, but they stuck to the task and lasted the full 40 overs.

James Stewart led the way with an excellent 32 including five fours. Colin Blackett (25) and Kevin Thompson (23) also contributed.

Pick of the home bowlers was Dan Robinson with 3-43 from ten overs.

Blyth seconds are at home to Monkseaton seconds with a 1.30pm start on Saturday.
