Bedlington’s first win
Bedlington 1sts won their first game of the season in the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket League Division 2 when they beat Blue Flames 1sts by three wickets on Saturday.
Blue Flames batted first and were restricted to 116 all out with Rowan Sembukttige taking 4-25 and Majid Ansari 3-11.
Bedlington then chased it down in 36 overs at 117-7.
Ashington Rugby 1sts made it three wins out of three and they are just one point behind Berwick at the top of Division 3 following a nine wicket victory at home against Alnmouth & Lesbury 2nds.
Alnmouth were 106 all out with Mark Lawrence taking three wickets, and the Ashington took 25 overs to reach their target at 110-1.
Blyth 1sts won their first game of the season with a seven wicket victory away to Benwell & Walbottle 1sts. Benwell were all out for 114 with David Ebdale 4-23, and in reply Blyth were 115-3 with Will Asher on 55.
Cramlington 1sts won their first game by 75 runs at home to Corbridge. Paul Smiles hit 67 as Cramlington made 200-9, with Corbridge 125 all out in reply, Bryan Walker claiming 5-15.
Bomarsund 1sts suffered their first defeat with a 118 run defeat away to Tynedale 1sts in Division 4. Tynedale posted 152-7, but in reply Bomarsund were dismissed for only 34 with two home bowlers taking four wickets.
Ashington Rugby 2nds are joint top of Division 5 North (along with Bedlington 2nds and Warenford) after a narrow two run victory away to Ulgham 1sts.
Ashington were 221-1 with Chris Harwood, for the second week in a row, hitting 117 not out. Ulgham gave chase but came up just short at 219-8, Gary Mordey taking three of the wickets.
Bedlington 2nds won by 35 runs at home to Monkseaton 1sts. Bedlington put on 125 all out, but they dismissed the visitors for only 90 in their innings with Anil Raynold taking 5-14.
In Division 6 North, Blyth 2nds lost their first game of the season by 93 runs at home to Stobswood 2nds. The visitors hit 195-7 with Blyth 102 all out in reply.
Bomarsund 2nds lost by 68 runs at home to Embleton. Embleton were 207-7 (Ewan Thorpe 45; Robert Wilson 3-52) with Bomarsund 139-5 in reply.
